Join Us: Dublin Inquirer’s Immigrant Readers’ Meet-up

For nearly three years, we have had a dedicated reporter, Shamim Malekmian, covering immigrant life in Dublin, exploring the barriers that people from elsewhere can face trying to build a life in the city.

We want to make sure that this coverage continues to serve our long-time immigrant readers, and those who are just discovering us, as well as possible.

Dublin Inquirer was founded by immigrants. Within our core team, half of us are immigrants. We are conscious of the anxiety and stress that immigrants in Dublin are feeling at the moment, stepping out into what seems, with the regular anti-immigrant protests, to be a hostile city.

If you’re an immigrant to Dublin, we would warmly like to invite you to our next Dublin Inquirer event, at The Circular in Rialto on Thursday 16 February at 7.30pm.

The event will include a short presentation on our coverage to date in this area, and what our approach has been so far. This will be followed by smaller table discussions to try to get a sense of what you would like from our coverage, whether story ideas or approaches.

It might also be nice just to have a pint and vent and commiserate a bit about the stress of living with the anti-immigrant protests.
