We’re looking for a freelance reporter interested in writing one piece a week for us on arts and culture in the city.
We’re looking for a freelance reporter, with a deep interest in the arts, who wants to write one piece a week for us on arts and culture in the city.
We’re looking for somebody eager to do thoughtful on-the-ground reporting in Dublin, rather than reviews or single-person interviews. An ability to come up with fresh ideas of what to cover is also key.
Stories could be well-cut little profiles of those making art in the city. They could be curious tales behind the murals and sculptures that people may have passed by but never really noticed.
The beat may lead you to dig into the hard challenges faced by those trying to cultivate culture in the city, and what exactly government bodies responsible for the sector have been up to.
As part of the beat, we would ask you to cover the meetings of Dublin City Council’s arts, culture, leisure and recreation committee, which take place at the moment four times a year, and keep a close eye on council initiatives in the city.
We pay €157.50 for each reported freelance piece that we publish.
Regular freelancers, those contributing more than 20 pieces a year, are also invited to join our quarterly internal co-op meetings, with a say in the business side of the newspaper and how we develop and grow.
If you’re interested, please send an email by 9 March at 5.30pm to lois@dublininquirer.com, telling us why you would be a good fit, with two story ideas, and two writing samples.
Get our latest headlines in one of them, and recommendations for things to do in Dublin in the other.
