This photo was taken in Dublin City centre on the junction of Dame Street and
South Great George’s Street. It’s one of the busiest parts of town and sees lots of
pedestrians, cyclists, cars and buses converge. After crossing, I spotted these two guys hurriedly wheeling a clothes rack across the street along with a cyclist navigating around them. At one point they actually dropped some of the clothes and they scrambled to pick them up before the lights turned green and the traffic took off again. They made it through, with most of clothes intact. The pair of jeans too long for the rack barely made it through too …
I am Dublin based street photographer who likes to capture my immediate surrounds. I live near the city centre and Dublin is a great city to explore by foot, which I do regularly. I try to alway have my camera in hand and take the time to slow down, observe and photograph the inhabitants of the city going about their business. I am Dublin-born but spent over half of my life living overseas. Photographing Dublin and its inhabitants has given me the opportunity to observe, capture and reconnect with Dublin in a visual sense. Some things have never changed, but others have done significantly. Photography allows me to capture both the old and new aspects of Dublin in 2024.
Dublin Inquirer is running a Photo of the Month competition each month. The winner gets €50 and publication. If you’d like to enter, you can find the guidelines here.
