1. This work is about . . . I am working on a project which is using the naked female form to explore our relationship with our natural and man-made environment, and that of political, financial, and religious institutions to us. We live on a beautiful blue sphere, magically and gracefully floating through outer space, blissfully ignorant of the relationship between our actions and the future well-being of our planet.
2. I made this work because . . . we have come through the centuries growing ever more confident and arrogant in the belief that as a race we are indestructible. Some have added personal greed to their profile and in seeking El Dorado have left social and economic devastation in their wake. This image seeks to illustrate the results.
3. I hope when people see this work they will . . . contemplate the devastating results of the greed and corruption by bankers and developers, which led to the bankruptcy of our country and the impoverishment of large sections of its population, the effects of which are to a large extent unseen and unreported.
4. In terms of art history, this work . . . There are many examples of artists’ involvement in social issues of the day, Picasso’s Guernica, being perhaps the greatest. So I fall into the category of those artists who feel their work should reflect issues and questions of the day, regarding society and the human condition.
5. You can see my work . . . My work has been exhibited in Italy, the RHA and in the Filmbase space in Dublin in 2013. It has also featured in magazines, books, and websites internationally. There are more images on my website.
