“Having private, for-profit care goes against all you are trying to achieve for children in care,” says Terry Dignan, a spokesperson for charities that run children’s homes.
Councils are reluctant to use the single-stage process because they take on more risk if something goes wrong, says Sinn Féin TD and housing spokesperson Eoin Ó Broin.
Editor’s note: We’re all booked up, all tables reserved, as of 6 November 2023.
We’d love it if you’d join us for a pub quiz on the evening of 16 November.
It’ll be upstairs at Doyle’s Corner in Phibsboro, a great venue where we held a quiz a quiz before, a few years back.
Louise O’Connor has, thankfully, agreed again to write the quiz and emcee the night. We have the room from 8pm, although if you want to come earlier you are very welcome to get a pint downstairs and hang out there until the time comes.
It’s €10 per person, but €5 for Dublin Inquirer subscribers. We’ll use the money to help us continue find, report, write, edit and publish articles about Dublin.
It’ll be teams of four, with prizes for the winners and a mid-quiz raffle. And, most importantly, it should be fun!
To reserve a table, please email sam@dublininquirer.com and I’ll put you on the list.
