“Having private, for-profit care goes against all you are trying to achieve for children in care,” says Terry Dignan, a spokesperson for charities that run children’s homes.
Councils are reluctant to use the single-stage process because they take on more risk if something goes wrong, says Sinn Féin TD and housing spokesperson Eoin Ó Broin.

Interacting with passers-by and shopkeepers was a great highlight for me. People were happy to join once I told them about my project. I’m looking forward to giving even more attention to sitting and interacting with people, as I progress with the project.
Using an expressive approach to document everyday life on the street, my focus is on the massive cultural shift on Moore Street and capturing its vibrancy and many cultures.
With workers and passersby from all over the world, the street is a transformative space, while in the background is the context of its place in Irish history.
But it will be vital to find a balance between holding onto the important national history of Moore Street, while also maintaining a space for its many cultural presences.

Sculpting through assemblies of objects is the main aspect of his practice, he says. A scarecrow-like figure wearing a Mickey Mouse t-shirt, with cigarette butts, and a Madonna cassette, for example.
“Pitched as ‘avante hyperpop’, her music can sound like what Mariah Carey might cook up if she spent more hours hanging out in video arcades and reading radical literature.”
